How do Dogs Learn?

Yes we are right, it is fascinating how quickly dogs can learn when the conditions are right.

But how do they do that?

Dogs learn through associative learning process: Dogs connect a specific behaviour with a consequence.

Dogs have a natural need for Pack Mentality. They are social animals respecting and willing to work with a Hierarchy and to communicate with a group or individual. This is why dogs learn human cues and signals easily.  They are thus eager to please the leader.

Dogs are keen when they use their Observational Skills. They focus on our body language, tone of voice and hand gestures. Their sensitivity allows them to learn commands and what our human language means without us training them and without us being consistent.

If dog trainers like me provide clear, consistent and motivational stimulation which guides owners and dogs, we are set up for success.

It is all about tapping into dogs’ natural strengths and providing the right kind of guidance and consequence.

At Canine Diagnostics we create the correct environment for dogs to learn, we provide a safe, positive, consistent and stimulating environment.
